Is there anyway to contribute to the site with distributed cracking..
What I mean.. I can see a lot of requests but just a few people cracking ...
My laptop is not very powerful and I cant do much .. can leave it overnight to work.. but still cant compare if there is a way to link a lot of computers and processor power to crack ..
What I am saying is that it would be nice if we can link somehow into the cracking process a lot of computers so the things can speed up..
Bit dumb explanation but I hope you can understand what I am saying

Don't worry about it, CPU is fast enough if you have the right lists and rules.

Take a look at this thread...
https://forum.md5decrypter.co.uk/topic1221-l34k3d0u7--the-battle-continues-.aspx

You will see a few there with just CPU and their brains !!

Learn to use rules with hashcat-plus, grab the latest left list and join in !!!

OR Blandy's nicely revised hashcat-gui - http://home.btconnect.com/md5decrypter/App.HashcatGUI_0175.zip

“May your neighbors respect you, Trouble neglect you, angels protect you, And heaven accept you”

Current Specs -
CPU = Corei3 M350 Quad-core 2.27GHz, 4GB DDR3
GPU = nVidia Corporation G92 [GeForce 9800 GT] 1GB

How are you getting on with hashcat marslander ? We could really do with your help https://forum.md5decrypter.co.uk/topic1221-l34k3d0u7--the-battle-continues-.aspx

As M@LIK pointed out, CPU hashcat can test much longer passwords. This will help us with GPU as we can only test to 15. I would really like you to join in, especially as you said you would like to help.

You will also get a share of the passwords to use against other hash lists and they are extremely useful for analysis, much better than "rock you" as they are more thoughtful passwords and plenty more of them !!

The hash type is SHA1

I wouldn't try to brute force just using CPU, It would take many weeks with GPU !! With CPU you should really use wordlists and lots of rules. Rules are the best thing to get into when you actually want to crack hashes yourself and not have to rely on others.

Making good rules is where the skill comes in and you can only learn that with trial and error.

There is a very good wiki on the hashcat site on how to use hashcat and rules. I look forward to seeing you on the thread !
