looking to upgrade the gpu's and get the most bang for my buck in todays market as prices are changing as people race to get the gtx 1080 and are off loading their gpus cheaper to suit the new market . I would like to run a system with 7 max gpu

I am considering

1. gtx 980ti as I can get these for around $450.00 aud which should get me 279,000 on wpa hashes
2. gtx 1070 but I have not seen or cannot find any benchmarks as yet and the cost around $600.00 aud but I am assuming the the benchmarks to come in around 300,00
3. the titan x still seem to getting silly money considering the gtx 1080 is cheaper and faster. the gtx 1080 would cost be around $1100.00 aud and would get around 400,00 on wpa hash so I might as well run with 2 x 980ti

does anyone have any opinions they would like to share on this or am I missing something

1070 benchmarks will be provided by me in about a week, if you can find some please post the link !
Keep power consumption in mind. A gtx 1080 will suck about 180~ and the 2 x 980ti will take the double amount.
We saw it often enough, that the x70 generations were more power efficient that the x80 versions. My first guess of what I heard is that the 1070 has about 75% power compared to the 1080. So if the price is also 75% of the 1080 it's even. BUT if the price is ~70% of a 1080 I would consider buying 1070's (Price per hash)
In the end it's still a price thing. I decided i get the 1070 first. If I like it I will get a second one and if not my second one will be a 1080.

#1: GeForce GTX 1070, 2026/8105 MB allocatable, 15MCU
Hashtype: MD4 Speed.Dev.#1.: 30518.8 MH/s (101.38ms)
Hashtype: MD5 Speed.Dev.#1.: 17789.1 MH/s (100.66ms)
Hashtype: Half MD5 Speed.Dev.#1.: 10791.3 MH/s (101.09ms)
Hashtype: SHA1 Speed.Dev.#1.: 6138.8 MH/s (99.58ms)

Someone posted this in the hashcat irc cahnnel yesterday. Regarding that he wanted to use cudahascat 2.01 and not the hascat 3.0 beta I wouldn't trust that one so far... i assume he tweaked nothing as was using ubuntu and we don't know what driver he was using...

We already know what the GTX 1080 gets so to get an idea, lets just calculate it:

GTX 1080
SHA1: Speed.Dev.#1.: 8677.5 MH/s (97.00ms)
WPA: Speed.Dev.#1.: 400.2 kH/s (92.12ms)

GTX 1070
SHA1: Speed.Dev.#1.: 6138.8 MH/s (100.66ms)
WPA Estimate: Speed.Dev.#1.: 283.1 kH/s

So I'd say around ~280 kH/s mark but again, just an estimate.

well if that's the case the 980ti should be very close to the gtx 1070 at 2/3rds of the price. its a winner for me

ill hold off for a wee bit longer

Imo you shouldn't get 980ti's. The drivers for the new generation will be improved by time what pushes the speed. You will also have less power consumption.
And blandyuk is correct with his estimation. We know the 1080 and we know the theoretically power of the 1070 by given data from Nvidia. In hashcat channel we assumed something about 70% to 75% of the 1080's power.
I'm glad that I could help o/
