I have mine set to 880 MHz Core and 1220 MHz Memory

I found this to be very stable, if you overclock the memory more than 1220 it will overheat and BSOD !

With my settings I get 100.2K on WPA

No pics yet as it's currently in one of my towers which is too deep, (8 inches), when on it's side and I also only have 3 x PCI-E Risers but have another 1 coming soon. I have a 4U server box which works out at 7 inches deep, (that 1 inch will make all the difference), so I'm going to put it all in there with all 4 cards raised out. I'm using Maccano as a framework to hold the 4 cards works a treat actually and it will sit on top nicely. I did wonder if the length of the PCI-E risers would affect performance but they make no difference so that's good.

If I could get 4 x 5970s in this thing I would, that would be INSANE!! Can't afford those cards thou so would have to be donations.

OK Blandy,

I would really like to see a picture of this beast though when it is finished ! I can't wait !

Also please would you explain where you got the risers from and how you are powering that many cards from one main-board. I guess you have more than one power supply but how do you turn the second ATX power supply on ?

Look at my signature below

Mobo supports 4 x PCI-E x16 v2

Power Supply is Corsair AX1200 or 1200 watt! have 6 x 6+2 pin PCI-E powers but I have 2 x 4 pin molex to PCI-E powers to give me 8. As each card uses about 188-190 watts, my 1200 watt PSU easily powers it all. I only have 1 PSU BUT if I needed to use 2, all u need to do is look on the 24 pin mobo power plug, look for a green wire, short that with the black, (ground), wire next to it and the PSU will power up.

PSU Power Up without mobo Ref: http://www.gideontech.com/content/articles/196/1

Instead of using a switch like they have, just loop the wires directly and use the switch on your PSU

The 15cm PCI-E Risers I got off eBay simple.

As far as I know, ATI cards significantly out perform Nvidia for hash cracking.

OK, here are some initial pics of my 4 x Radeon 5870 GPU rig:

http://home.btconnect.com/md5decrypter/gpu_rig/P9280007.JPG

http://home.btconnect.com/md5decrypter/gpu_rig/P9280009.JPG
http://home.btconnect.com/md5decrypter/gpu_rig/P9280010.JPG

You notice in pic P9280007.JPG that there are only 3 PCI-E risers, reason is I'm waiting for some more to arrive.

In the other pics, you'll see the CPU water cooling radiator and fan above the PSU. It actually runs better than when it was in the old case due to the fan having no air-flow restriction at all. I had to put it there as there was nowhere else to put it!

Also, you'll notice my GPU card rig is made out of Mecanno it's bolted to the case so it not going to move and is very sturdy. Works perfectly!

I've actually just ordered the Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme Graphics Card Cooler, only 1 for now to test so more pics to come

2 of my cards were running hot, so I bought 1 x Arctic Accelero Xtreme 7970 to test, needless to say it's freakin awesome! Put it on my hottest card and here are the results:

GPU1: 75oC
GPU2: 50oC
GPU3: 83oC
GPU4: 75oC

Needless to say, it's obvious which one has the new heat-sink and fans. I've bought another 3 of them :P

Check out the dust from the old heat-sink:

http://home.btconnect.com/md5decrypter/gpu_rig/card1/PA040005_.jpg

Run WPA overclocked on this new cooler, Core @ 880MHz and Mem ~ 1220MHz with 60% fan which I could still not even hear:
GPU Temp #1: 42.5
GPU Temp #2: 48.0
GPU Temp #3: 48.5

That's full load with -n 320 after 8 mins! Cooooooolllllll

They are mega quiet, can't hear a thing even @ 60% totally awesome! Will put up more pics when done.

The 3 cards with reference fans run as follows:

21% Fan (idle) = 51 dbl
42% Fan = 69 dbl

When the 3 reference coolers were in idle stat, putting the Arctic Cooler to 60% made no noise difference at all!! Very quiet. I'll post stats on running 4 of these Arctic coolers very soon.

You should get some dust filters. Maybe build it as a box over the rig or a custom tower?
Btw, your rig looks awesome! Do you get the same speed if you run the test with just one card? I'm thinking more like if you loose any speed per card considering that you share the workload on 4 GPU's ?

You don't loose any speed with having more cards.
