There is every chance the password will be 8 random upper case characters.

For me to break that it would take 1 month to cover the entire key space.

You may get lucky and find it within 2 weeks or less. Quite expensive though to run at full power for that time.

If the AP is the same as you posted then you will do much better with Reaver despite being locked out occasionally. It will be considerably faster and less power consumption to use Reaver than brute force. The lock out should only be between 60 and 180 seconds depending on type.

its not.. thats the problem.. i got quite good signal .. when I started at first got maybe like 10 attempts and after that it locked me out for more than 15 mins.. kept getting Sending EAPOL ... and after that Timed out..
Sometimes it just says LOcked out ..waiting 60 seconds for another attempt.. and keeps going like that forever... but most of the times is just timed out after the first 2-3 attempts
maybe I need to get better USB wifi adapter.. but dont have idea what kind to order.. not really keen to pay like 40 pounds for just to satisfy my temporary curiosity

There's always the hackers choice

alpha awus036h

Set it B mode and you should get a good range.

Next step would be a Yagi and / or a dish.

yea.. that looks cool and if you recommend it I will get it .. but do you think that the problem is in the usb driver I am using or the its the router ...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alfa-Network-AWUS036H-1000mW-Wireless-G-USB-Adapter-NEW-/280427357945?pt=UK_Computing_USB_Wi_Fi_Adapters_Dongles&hash=item414ac5e6f9

Is that the right one?

It looks to be the one I have and it works well for me. However don't expect miracle improvements over what you have. This is wifi and it is very low power and quality. You are not going to get massive gains in distance but you should ses some improvement. You really need "line of sight".

Doubt it is your driver, AP's time you out as a protection against brute force. Nothing to do with your end.

I have the AWUS036NH, I never managed to break WPS with it.. i always get the "retrying last pin" loop in reaver after a while. Why is it important to have it in B-mode, and how do I set that?

Thx
