Hello All,
Firstly having looked at other posts I feel this is best suited here. sorry if you disagree.

Im sure that a number of people by now have used services like https://find-wifi.mylnikov.org/ to look up the location of addresses.

By using tools such as kismet and wifi tracker you can build a database of locations of wifi. I now have a list of csv lines that link to a essid, I want to be able to pipe those results into something that is able to give me a close approximation of where the router is.

for example

BSSID Signal strength SSID GPS Accuracy Latitude Longitude ac:a3:1e:a3:59:c2 -86 TitLeP22VfS 3.5 51.14671167 -0.976041667 ac:a3:1e:a3:59:82 -87 TitLeP22VfS 3.5 51.14679167 -0.975946667 ac:a3:1e:a3:59:62 -84 TitLeP22VfS 3.5 51.14679167 -0.975946667 ac:a3:1e:a3:5b:62 -88 TitLeP22VfS 3.5 51.146875 -0.975848333 ac:a3:1e:a3:5b:a2 -85 TitLeP22VfS 3.5 51.1473 -0.975475

How can i reduce that down to a close result to the actual? ..... baring in mind that they are often found while walking in the street and that is clearly not were the router is.

Thanks

I understand that results also will come with a pinch of salt because of different building types and the way you are holding the phone or the collection device etc.

So I have found something that I think I can work with: https://hackaday.io/project/11611-wifi-triangulation

However from the results I will have to do a little bit of working out. It does help that this person used a large collection of reference points and he was walking alone straight roads to get a good reference between points.

Never thought of that!

I always used a Rasp Pi and then mainly imported to wiggle, but I might be able to play about with this!

Least if it's on the road you can still visit the "area" it is in and find it easier than not at all though
