Time for some new hashes :-)

Test 3: 2.7M SHA1 hashes from various small DBs

1.) Download hashes https://www.dropbox.com/s/d9zsbqj0nevq7au/test_3_sha1_db-collection_left.7z?dl=1
2.) Run those hashes through all your wordlists in Hashcat mode 100 (SHA1) WITHOUT rules
3.) Post your result

My result:

Found: 2587295/2687204 = 96.28%

Maybe i already cracked those hashes in the past or the plains are public or they just very easy ones ^^

My attempts at each hashlist. I'm surprised how poorly top 2billion probable did.

pretty sure test 3 came from hashes.org in some way or another. Or at least its been well cracked and the founds are posted there.

got 4.71% with a wordlist containing only 1,642,076 passwords... I guess the wordlist size should be taken into account to make the tests relevant, and since it's a small one I guess it's a really good rate (the 600k hashes)

My 10MB scraped dictionary on test 3:

No rules/straight:
Recovered........: 516/2687203 (0.02%)

top_5000.rule:
Recovered........: 123128/2687203 (4.58%)

dive.rule:
Recovered........: 295907/2687203 (11.01%)

I honestly don't understand that people come flex here with >95% recovered. Obviously your wordlist contains the cracked plains of the test hashes if you're getting that kind of percentage.

Lol. Also people get it because a 10mb wordlist is REALLY small. The idea is to test your best wordlist without any rules. You can see how its flawed my 2.5gb wordlist does extremely well for its size but not in how many it gets. Its for fun and to spark conversation and hopefully motivate others to make better wordlists.

Lol. You really believe you can crack 96% of a dump given that it's a fast algorithm with just a plain wordlist run?

Bull. Shit.

If you take a look at hashes.org the fast algorithm leaks recovery percentage ranges anywhere from 99.99 - 100%.

That's the result of hours of cracking with rules, masks and other attacks.

Not possible with just a wordlist unless you first crack the hashes with rules, masks, etc. Then run those plains on the original hashes and woah suddenly you have the best dictionary ever.

Hence why I reffered to my 10MB list which I scraped off the net and is totally unrelated to any of the test hashes.

Just saw this thought i'd note the person who made this thread mexx6666666 got 96%? So is a moderator lying? This is a test your wordlist list not a I need these extremely hard to crack hashes. Hashes.org is a list of harder hashes how do I know because people attempt to crack them before they upload them. Most people on here used 20gb+ word lists to achieve there percentage. There a few ways to attempt to improve on your approach you can try and get them all or least effort to reward. I shrinked my wordlist from 2.5gb to 1.4gb and before got 59ish percent and now get 58%. When you say 10mb isn't enough you're right but that doesn't mean a moderator and other (good crackers) have to cheat on a easy test.
