Hi, my setup is a GTX 1060, a fx6300, 8 GB DDR3 RAM, a 128 SSD, and a low-end UPS. I want to increase the hashrate and the performance of the system, and I would like to set the priorities for improve the hardware, as I´m planing to buy a 1080 or a 1070ti. Where would you start?
- Don´t know if make sense of use the CPU for hashing, It´s quite power hungry, and I want my setup to be efficient. Would it make sense to buy a low power CPU?
- a gold 80+ UPS should be my first step?
- RAM matters? or is enough with those 8GB? (on the Hashcat GUI I see the large dictionaries on purple letters, the smallest are on blue, is this linked to the RAM capacity or HD free space)

thanks a lot.

Your CPU and memory are fine, the power supply depends more on what your current watt capacity is and if you're going to add the 1070ti/1080 onto your system so you have 2 gpus or if you're going to replace the 1060 so you only have one gpu.

As for which GPU, both are good and the 1070ti performs very close to the 1080:

1080 benchmark https://gist.github.com/epixoip/6ee29d5d626bd8dfe671a2d8f188b77b

1070ti benchmark https://hashcat.net/forum/thread-7142.html

Either one would be great for hashing

Thanks. I was affraid that 8GB wouln't be enought for the 1080, the idea is use just one card and sell the 1060.
