Download the Live CD with rainbow tables. The password is less than 8 digits but Ophcrack has never cracking the password nearly running for 2 days. Is there any program better than Ophcrack?

A crappy thing about the programs mentioned above is that some of them suck when it comes to recovering international passwords. Other ones improperly load hashes from certain SAM files, at least one has a problem reading Windows 10 encryption, all have poor import/recovery engine.
By the way, forget about rainbow tables. It's a dead-end technology.

If you're not kidding, I would strongly advise NOT using both programs. Otherwise, you're at risk of getting problems booting your system. Besides, the topic starter needs to recover the password but not to reset it.

You will lose some other passwords after resetting. So make sure you did everything to recover it first. Feel free to pm me your hash(es). It would be perfect if you have SAM/SYSTEM files. Some programs, as I said already, incorrectly extract Win 10 hashes from registry.

If you can't recover the passwd via cracking process. You can easily 'blank' the password to login considering you have physical access to said computer. Just boot off a live linux CD (something like Ubuntu http://releases.ubuntu.com/19.10/ubuntu-19.10-desktop-amd64.iso.torrent ) Then you can select 'try Ubuntu' rather than install so it boots system from memory... then you can mount the windows filesystem (it will prob be /dev/sda1 or /dev/sda2 or something similar.. after that just navigate to the SAM directory @ Windows/System32/Config .. Code: *note you might have to enable universe repo in Software settingsthen Code: sudo chntpw -u shuttfin SAM then press 1 (number not letter) and press enter to clear password, and just reboot if you want to do all this interactively type Code: this way you can list all users with l (lowercase L) and other options etc.. hope this helps..
